Asian Shares Close Mostly Higher

Stocks in the Asia-Pacific region finished mostly in the green on Tuesday, as investors await the U.S. Federal Reserve monetary policy decision later in the week, said Trading Economics. Also, persistent trade tensions between Beijing and the Washington as U.S. Commerce Secretary Ross said President Trump is “perfectly happy” to impose new tariffs on China if the two economic powerhouses don’t “make a deal.” The Shanghai Composite went up 3 points, or 0.1% to 2,890; the Kospi rose 8 points, or 0.4% to 2,099; the Hang Seng increased 260 points, or 1% to 27,487; and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 advanced 39 points, or 0.6%, to 6,570; while the Nikkei 225 dropped 151 points, or 0.7% to 20,973.
